The invention concerns a method for performing -ecomposition in an American type Bayer circuit whereby the quality of the particle size grading is monitored by measuring the screen undersize at X2 mu m of the flowing hydrate, comprising: a) a preparation step which consists in establishing a relationship R between the screen undersize at X1 mu m and the screen undersize at X2 mu m, wherein X1 is strictly less than X2 and deducing therefrom triggering levels on the screen undersize at X1 mu m; b) the performing proper of the process consists, besides the daily measurement of the screen undersize at X2 mu m, in daily measuring the screen undersize at X1 mu m of the flowing hydrate and triggering a corrective action on the suspension at the decomposition head when the value of the screen undersize measured at X1 mu m reaches one of the triggering levels established during the preliminary step and regularly updated.

Conduite de la décomposition d'un circuit BAYER de type américain dans lequel la qualité granulométrique de l'hydrate est suivie par une mesure du passant à X2 µm de l'hydrate en roulement, comportant: a) une étape de préparation, destinée à établir une relation R entre le passant à X1 µm et le passant à X2 µm, où X1 est strictement inférieur à X2 et à en déduire des seuils déclencheurs sur le passant à X1 µm; b) la conduite du procédé proprement dite, qui comporte, outre la mesure journalière du passant à X2 µm, une mesure journalière du passant à X1 µm de l'hydrate en roulement ainsi que le déclenchement d'une action correctrice sur la suspension en tête de décomposition lorsque la valeur mesurée du passant à X1 µm atteint un des seuils déclencheurs qui ont été établis au cours de l'étape préliminaire et ont été mis à jour régulièrement.
