The invention relates to a method for preparing 1,2-propanediol by reacting glycerol, which has a purity of at least 95 wt%, with hydrogen at a hydrogen pressure from 20 to 100 bar and a temperature from 180 to 240°C in the presence of a catalyst, which comprises 20 to 60 wt% of copper oxide, 30 to 70 wt% of zinc oxide and 1 to 10 wt% manganese oxide in an autoclave.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour la préparation de 1,2-propanediol, dans lequel de la glycérine présentant une pureté d'au moins 95 % en poids, est amené à réagir dans un autoclave avec de l'hydrogène à une pression d'hydrogène de 20 à 100 bars et à une température de 180 à 240°C en présence d'un catalyseur comprenant 20 à 60 % en poids d'oxyde de cuivre, 30 à 70 % en poids d'oxyde de zinc et 1 à 10 % d'oxyde de manganèse.
