METHOD OF PREPARING AND ADMINISTERING AN INTRA-RESPIRATORY VACCINE FOR PREVENTION OF BORDETELLA BRONCHISEPTICA INFECTION AND VACCINE DOSE FORM FOR USE THEREIN ABSTRACT An attenuated live avirulent strain of Bordetella bronchiseptica is prepared for implant colonization of the respiratory mucosa using freeze-dried cells which are recon- stituted to an aqueous suspension with a reduced amount of water which preferably contains a wetting agent for promoting the rehydration and implant colonization of the viable cells. A 2-vial packaging system may be used, one vial containing the freeze-dried cells and the other a sterile aqueous solution of the wetting agent. The method and vaccine dose form are adapted for use with intra-respiratory vaccines prepared from ATCC strain No. 3143-7. - 1 -
