A method for preparing high resolution, negative- working, wash-off relief images, preferably using ink jet printing, comprising the sequential steps of: (a) providing a non-photosensitive layer comprising an acid-containing polymer; (b) applying an ink imagewise to the non-photosensitive layer to produce image areas and unimaged areas, said ink comprising an esterification agent which is capable of reacting with the acid groups in the polymer to form water-insoluble ester groups; (c) drying the non-photosensitive layer to induce or accelerate the esterification reaction between the acid groups and the esterification agent in the imaged areas; and (d) washing the non- photosensitive layer with an aqueous developer solution to remove the unimaged areas of the non-photosensitive layer is described.
Procédé de préparation d'images en relief à haute résolution obtenues par lavage et copiage par inversion de préférence au moyen d'une impression par jet d'encre, comprenant les étapes séquentielles suivantes : (a) on forme une couche non photosensible renfermant un polymère contenant de l'acide ; (b) on applique une encre dans le sens de l'image sur la couche non photosensible pour définir des zones d'image et des zones sans image, ladite encre comprenant un agent d'estérification qui est capable de réagir avec les groupes acide du polymère pour former des groupes ester insolubles dans l'eau ; (c) on sèche la couche non photosensible pour induire ou accélérer la réaction d'estérification entre les groupes acide et l'agent d'estérification dans les zones d'image ; et (d) on lave la couche non photosensible avec une solution aqueuse de révélateur pour éliminer les zones sans image de la couche non photosensible.
