Provided is a method for preparing a powder coating composition comprising: (a) forming a mixture comprising solid particles which include a curable resin and a crosslinking agent that is reactive with the curable resin suspended in an aqueous liquid phase comprising water and a surfactant; (b) milling the mixture at a temperature of up to about 40°C so as to reduce the mean particle size of the particles to no greater than about 15 µm; (c) agglomerating the particles so as to increase their mean particle size to at least about 20 µm; (d) separating the particles from the aqueous liquid phase; and (e) drying the particles to form a powder.

Procédé de préparation d'une composition de revêtement en poudre consistant (a) à former un mélange comprenant des particules solides qui renferment une résine durcissable et un agent de réticulation qui réagit avec la résine durcissable se trouvant en suspension dans une phase liquide aqueuse formée d'eau et d'un tensioactif; (b) à broyer le mélange à une température allant jusqu'à environ 40 ~C pour réduire la grosseur particulaire moyenne afin qu'elle soit inférieure ou égale à environ 15 µm; (c) à faire s'agglomérer les particules de manière à augmenter leur grosseur particulaire moyenne de sorte qu'elle soit au moins égale à environ 20 µm; (d) à séparer les particules de la phase liquide aqueuse; et (e) à déshydrater les particules pour former une poudre.
