The invention concerns a method for preparing recombinant heterocarpine. The invention concerns in particular the complete heterocarpine sequence (SEQ. ID. NO. 10), expression vectors comprising a polynucleotide encoding heterocarpine, host cells transformed or transfected by said expression vectors and a method for obtaining heterocarpine using said transformed or transfected host cells. The resulting recombinant heterocarpine can in particular be used for preparing a medicine for treating cancer.
