REFRACTORY POROUS MATERIAL, ARTICLE FROM THIS MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR MAKING SAID ARTICLE ABSTRACT The present invention relates to the production of novel porous refractory materials with a porosity of 25-70% by volume and with a share of open pores of up to 99.7% prepared by densification of an exothermal mixture incorporating at least one metal of Gropus IV-VI, VIII of the periodio system and at least one non-metal: boron, silicon, carbon, its thermovacuum treatment at 300-700°C, bringing temperature of the densified mixture to 200- -1,050°C, followed by a local initiation of burning of this mixture in vacuum. For the manufacture of an article a blank is shaped with its density corresponding to the density of the final article and treated accordingly in a similar manner. Articles of a sophisticated shape are made from blanks aligned with cover members shaped from a mix- ture of the same composition.
