A method of preventing progression and causing regression of atherosclerosis in a mammal comprises: (a) treating an aliquot of mammalian blood ex-vivo with at least one stressor selected from the group consisting of a temperature above or below body temperature, an electromagnetic emission and an oxidative environment; and (b) administering the aliquot of blood treated in step (a) to the mammal, wherein the aliquot has a volume sufficient to achieve a regression in an existing atherosclerotic lesion in the mammal.

Technique permettant de prévenir la progression et déclenchant la régression de l'athérosclérose chez les mammifères, consistant à : (a) traiter un aliquote de sang de mammifère ex-vivo avec au moins un agent stressant parmi l'exposition à une température inférieure ou supérieure à la température corporelle, l'exposition à des rayonnements électromagnétiques ou l'exposition à un milieu oxydant, et (b) à administrer à un mammifère l'aliquote de sang traité lors de l'étape (a), en volume suffisant pour faire régresser une lésion athéroscléreuse existante chez le mammifère.
