A method, employing a device for processing, in particular for reading, programming or the like, of cards which are provided with an integrated circuit; chip or the like having at least one memory, the cards being conveyed along a path to at least one station where they are individually held fast by respective holding devices, provided with contactors, of a rotating carrier, and are processed during the rotational movement of the carrier, starting out from a device, by way of the contactors, and, subsequently thereto, the cards again being released by the holding devices onto the path. The individual cards are grasped by the holding device in question by the pressure action of a medium, in particular by suction action, and are held fast thereto.
