ABSTRACT Provided is a method for processing anion- exchange membrane which comprises immersing an ion- exchange membrane having a fluorine-containing polymer as matrix in a water-soluble organic solvent or an aqueous solution thereof to swell the membrane and then, rolling or stretching the membrane to reduce the thickness thereof. The resulting ion-exchange membrane is improved in water content and is low in sheet resistance and ion- exchange membrane fuel cells in which said membrane used are excellent in discharge characteristics.
