The invention concerns a method for processing large-size postal objects, so as to automatically read a postal address (AD) on each object, which consists in acquiring a digital image of each object at a certain level of resolution; detecting in said image one or several zones of interest (ZI) containing a priori a postal address; producing an automatic address recognition phase on each zone of interest to retrieve a postal address (AD) of said object; in the event that phase is unsuccessful, displaying each zone of interest (ZI) on a display screen so that a video-coding operator can read the postal address (AD) of said object. Each zone of interest (ZI) is displayed on a contextual display screen background (7) representing the object but at a lower level of resolution that said certain level of resolution of the digital image. Thus, the video-coding operator has a global view of the detected zones of interest, thereby reading the object postal address is facilitated.
Le procédé de traitement d'objets postaux de grande taille, en vue de lire automatiquement une adresse postale (AD) sur chaque objet consiste à acquérir une image numérique de chaque objet à un certain niveau de résolution; détecter dans cette image une ou plusieurs zones d'intérêt (ZI) contenant a priori une adresse postale; réaliser une phase de reconnaissance automatique d'adresse sur chaque zone d'intérêt pour extraire une adresse postale (AD) dudit objet; avec en cas d'échec de cette phase, afficher chaque zone d'intérêt (ZI) sur un écran pour qu'un opérateur de vidéo-codage lise l'adresse postale (AD) dudit objet. Chaque zone d'intérêt (ZI) est affichée à l'écran sur un fond d'écran contextuel (F) représentatif de l'objet mais à un niveau de résolution plus faible que ledit certain niveau de résolution de l'image numérique. Ainsi, l'opérateur de vidéo-codage a une vue globale des zones d'intérêt détectées ce qui facilite la lecture de l'adresse postale de l'objet.
