The invention relates to an advantageous method for industrial production of sought-after odoriferous musk root substances 2-cyclododecyl-propanol by reacting cyclododecene in the presence of catalytic amounts of a radical initiator with an excess of propionic acid or propionic acid derivative and subsequent catalytic hydrogenation of the formed 2-cyclododecyl propionic acid or the corresponding 2-cyclododecyl propionic acid derivatives.

L'invention concerne un procédé avantageux pour la fabrication industrielle du 2-cyclododécyl-propanol recherché comme substance odorante du musc, par réaction de cyclododécène en présence de quantités catalytiques d'un initiateur radicalaire avec un excédent d'acide propionique ou d'un dérivé d'acide propionique, suivie d'une hydrogénation catalytique de l'acide 2-cyclododécyl-propionique formé ou bien des dérivés correspondants de l'acide 2-cyclododécyl-propionique.
