ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ceramic honeycomb structure having no cracks is produced by adding water and a polyhydric alcohol to ceramic starting material powder, shaping the resulting mixture into a honeycomb structure, drying the shaped honeycomb structure at a temperature which evaporates water but does not evaporate the polyhydric alcohol, to evaporate water, heating the honeycomb structure at a temperature which evaporates the polyhydric alcohol, to evaporate the polyhydric alcohol and then firing the honeycomb structure.
