The invention relates to a method for producing a medical implant from a titanium alloy by precision casting the titanium alloy in a mold corresponding to the implant to be produced. The invention uses a ~-titanium alloy, hot- isostatic pressing, solution annealing and subsequent quenching. The invention also relates to a corresponding medical implant that is made from a titanium alloy in the precision casting method. The titanium alloy is a ~-titanium alloy and has a mean grain-size of at least 0.3 mm. The invention enables an efficient production of objects from ~-titanium alloys in the precision casting process. The invention thus creates the possibility of combining the advantageous properties of ~-titanium alloys, particularly their excellent mechanical properties, with the advantages of a production of objects in the precision casting process. Even implants having complex shapes, such as femoral parts (1) of hip joint prostheses, which could not or could not be sensibly produced by conventional forging methods, can now be produced from a ~-titanium alloy thanks to the invention.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un implant médical en alliage de titane par moulage de précision de l'alliage de titane dans un moule correspondant à l'implant à produire. Ce procédé est caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à utiliser un alliage de ß-titane et à effectuer une compression isostatique à température élevée, un recuit de mise en solution et une trempe. L'invention concerne en outre un implant médical correspondant produit par un procédé de moulage de précision à partir d'un alliage de titane. Cet alliage de titane est un alliage de ß-titane qui présente une grosseur moyenne de grain égale à au moins 0,3 mm. L'invention permet de produire de façon rationnelle des objets en alliages de ß-titane par un procédé de moulage de précision. L'invention permet ainsi d'associer les propriétés avantageuses des alliages de ß-titane, en particulier leurs excellentes propriétés mécaniques, aux avantages d'une production d'objets par un procédé de moulage de précision. L'invention permet également de produire à partir d'un alliage de ß-titane des implants de forme complexe, tels que des pièces fémorales (1) de prothèses de l'articulation de la hanche, qui ne pourraient pas être produits par des procédés de forgeage classiques, ou pas de façon rationnelle.
