Abstract A method is disclosed for producing a packaging container for liquids which, starting with a blank, is formed and sealed at the base, filled with a liquid, and has its top surface folded and sealed. After the liquid has been introduced, the top of the container is drawn into a flat seam, whereupon at least one lateral wall of the container is pressed in to an extent such that the level of the liquid in the container rises to the flat seam, the latter being then closed by sealing and the top of the container being shaped to form a rectangular prism.
