A method is provided herein for producing a respiratory filter. The method includes the first step of providing a mixture of a granular material which may be an adsorbent, an absorbent, a chemisorptive material or a catalytic material and at least one meltable polymer. The method includes the second step of heating the mixture in a mould comprising a selected connecting part which may be a part for a fan filter unit, a part for an adapter for a respirator or a part for a fan filter unit. The heating is carried out under pressure, whereby the mixture is pressed and fused into the selected connecting part. This thereby provides a gastight connection between the selected connecting part and the mixture. Another aspect of the present invention also includes the so-formed respiratory filter.
