Disclosed is a method for commercially producing an aminoalcohol derivative (I) having a biphenyl group. Also disclosed are a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative used therefor, a method for producing such a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative, and an intermediate compound used for such a method for producing a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative. Specifically disclosed is a production method comprising a step for forming a 3-substituted biphenylcarboxylic acid derivative represented by the general formula (4) below by reacting a 3-fluorobiphenylcarboxylic acid derivative prepared from a 3-fluorobiphenylcarbonitrile derivative, which is obtained by reacting a 4- halophenol derivative and a 2-fluorobenzonitrile derivative substituted with a leaving group at position 4, with an organic metal reagent.

L~invention décrit également un dérivé biphényloxyacétaldéhyde utilisé à cette fin, un procédé de production d~un tel dérivé biphényloxyacétaldéhyde, et un composé intermédiaire utilisé pour un tel procédé de production d~un dérivé biphényloxyacétaldéhyde. L~invention décrit plus spécifiquement un procédé de production comprenant une étape consistant à former un dérivé d~acide biphénylcarboxylique substitué en position 3 représenté par la formule générale (4) ci-dessous obtenu en faisant réagir un dérivé acide 3-fluorobiphénylcarboxylique préparé à partir d'un dérivé 3-fluorobiphénylcarbonitrile, qui est obtenu en faisant réagir un dérivé 4-halogénophénol et un dérivé 2-fluorobenzonitrile substitué par un groupe partant en position 4, avec un réactif organométallique.
