ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is an imaging method useful in facsimile transmission. The method involves passing an electrical current through a receiving member of a solid state persistent electro- chromic material uniformly distributed on the surface of a substrate having a resistance greater than the electrochromic material. Treating the substrate to lower its resistance to a level less than or equal to the electrochromic material, passing a current through the receiving member in imagewise configuration and returning the substrate to its original state of resistance provides a persistent image in the electrochromic material.
