Process for the preparation of tetrahydropterin and tetrahydropterin derivatives by hydrogenating pterin and pterin derivatives with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenating catalysat, in which the hydrogenation is carried out in a polar reac-tion medium and metal complexes that are soluble in the reaction medium are employed as the hydrogenation catalysts. The process is suited to the hydrogenation, particularly asymmetric hydrogenation, of folic acid, folic acid salts, folic acid esters, folic acid ester salts or dihydroforms thereof, with the proviso that in the event of using folic acid, carboxylic acid salts thereof or dihydroforms thereof the reaction medium is aqueous, and in the event of using folic acid esters, folic acid ester salts or dihydroforms thereof the reaction medium is an alcohol. The process opens up straightforward access to achiral and chiral pterin derivatives.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de tetrahydroptérine et de dérivés de tetrahydroptérine par hydratation de ptérine et de dérivés de ptérine avec de l'hydrogène en présence d'un catalyseur d'hydratation. Ce procédé consiste à effectuer l'hydratation dans un milieu réactif polaire et à employer des complexes métalliques solubles en tant que catalyseurs d'hydratation dans le milieu réactif. Ce procédé convient à l'hydratation, en particulier l'hydratation asymétrique d'acide folique, de sels d'acide folique, d'esters d'acide folique, de sels d'esters d'acide folique ou de leurs formes dihydriques, avec la condition que l'utilisation d'acide folique, de ses sels d'acide carbonique ou de ses formes dihydriques se fasse en présence d'un milieu réactif aqueux, et que l'utilisation d'esters d'acide folique, de sels d'esters d'acide folique ou de ses formes dihydriques se fasse en présence d'un milieu réactif alcoolique. Ce procédé permet d'accéder aisément à des dérivés de ptérine achiraux et chiraux.
