The hydrocarbon to be used, together with water vapour, is subjected to thermal steam cracking, whereby said hydrocarbon is in the vapour state. The hydrocarbon is heated to temperatures ranging from 700 to 1,000 ~C during steam cracking. A crack mixture is produced which contains C2 to C6 olefins and C4 to C6 diolefins. A first fraction containing C2 and C3 olefins and a second fraction containing olefins and diolefins ranging from C4 to C6 are separated from the crack mixture. The diolefins are at least partially removed from the second fraction and an intermediate product is produced that consists of at least 30 wt. % C4 to C6 olefins. A mixture to be used containing C4 to C6 olefins and water vapour and having an initial temperature of 300 to 700 ~C is guided into a reactor which contains a bulk of a grained and form-selective catalyst. A product mixture containing C2 to C4 olefins is withdrawn from the bulk and C2 and C3 olefins are separated from the product mixture.
Selon l'invention, la charge d'hydrocarbure est conduite à l'état de vapeur et avec de la vapeur d'eau à travers un dispositif de vapocraquage thermique (steamcracking), où elle est chauffée à des températures allant de 700 à 1000 ·C. On obtient ainsi un mélange contenant des oléfines C¿2? à C¿6? et des dioléfines C¿4? à C¿6?. Une première fraction contenant des oléfines C¿2? et C¿3? et une deuxième fraction contenant des oléfines et des dioléfines C¿4? à C¿6 sont séparées du mélange résultant du craquage. Les dioléfines sont au moins en partie séparées de la deuxième fraction, à partir de laquelle on obtient ainsi un produit intermédiaire constitué pour au moins 30 % en poids d'oléfines C¿4? à C¿6?. Une charge de mélange contenant des oléfines C¿4? à C¿6? et de la vapeur d'eau est introduite à une température d'entrée de 300 à 700 ·C dans un réacteur contenant un catalyseur granuleux à forme sélective, en vrac. Un mélange de produits contenant des oléfines C¿2? à C¿4? est extrait de ce catalyseur en vrac et des oléfines C¿2? et C¿3? sont séparées de ce mélange de produits.
