An improved method is provided for producing crystalline calcium hexaborate tetrahydrate, synthetic nobleite, by the reaction of boric acid and lime in an aqueous slurry. Reaction conditions include boric acid to water molar ratios of greater than 0.25:1, lime to boric acid molar ratios in the range of 0.05-0.15:1 and temperatures in the range of 60°-85 °C. A concentration of at least 25 % by weight undissolved solids is in the aqueous product slurry.
La présente invention concerne un procédé amélioré permettant de produire du tétrahydrate hexaborate de calcium cristallin, de la nobléite synthétique, par la réaction d'acide borique et d'hydroxyde de calcium dans une suspension aqueuse. Les conditions de réaction comprennent des rapports molaires acide borique/eau supérieurs à 0,25:1; des rapports molaires hydroxyde de calcium/acide borique de l'ordre de 0,05-0,15:1; et des températures comprises entre 60 DEG et 85 DEG C.
