To simultaneously overcome a drawback in that proceeding of a solid phase carbonization reaction requires high temperature and a drawback in that the reaction requires use of expensive materials. A method for producing a carbide of a Group IVA, VA, or VIA transition metal in the periodic table and/or a composite carbide of the transition metal and iron, the method including the step of co-milling a ferroalloy containing a Group IVA, VA, or VIA transition metal in the periodic table and incidental impurities and a carbon material mainly composed of carbon in a vacuum or an atmosphere of an inert gas to effect a solid phase reaction between the ferroalloy and the carbon material.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé permettant de surmonter simultanément les inconvénients posés par la nécessité d'une haute température pour l'évolution de la carbonisation en phase solide et par l'obligation d'utiliser une matière première coûteuse. L'invention concerne par ailleurs un procédé de production de carbures des métaux de transition du groupe IV A, V A et VI A de la classification périodique des éléments chimiques et/ou de carbures doubles de ces métaux de transition et du fer, ledit procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à mener une réaction en phase solide d'un ferroalliage contenant un métal de transition du groupe IV A, V A ou VI A et des impuretés inévitables avec un matériau carboné comprenant du carbone pour principal composant par un broyage conjoint sous vide ou dans une atmosphère de gaz inerte.
