A method for producing chemi-thermomechanical pulps (CTMPs), wherein wood chips are dipped in chemical reagents; the chips are mechanically defiberized (primary refining) in a pressurised steam atmosphere to give a raw pulp; and said pulp is refined (secondary refining). The method is characterized in that oxygen is fed into the reaction medium containing said chips or said raw pulp during at least one of the two refining steps.
