ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a method for producing chip- or fibre-board, a fluid concentrate is added to at least one component of the raw materials used to produce the said chip- and/or fibre- board. These raw materials comprise a cellulosic material (eg wood chips) and a bonding agent preferably in a glue bath. The fluid concentrate is preferably added to the organo-chemical bonding agents, or to the glue-bath containing the bonding agent. The fluid concentrate consists of specific parts by weight of boric acid and a water-soluble compound, or a water-soluble mixture of compounds, containing at least one alcohol, preferably a primary alcohol, and at least one water-soluble aliphatic amine or polyamine and/or an alkoxyamine or an alkanolamine, as well as water if necessary. These ingredients are mixed with each other and are then pressed, using a specified pressing power at a specified temperature. The fluid concentrate is thus used as an additive to organo-chemical bonding agents, or to a glue-bath containing such a bonding agent for the production of chip- or fibre-board. Use of the stated amounts of the fluid concentrate significantly improves the flame-retarding properties of the boards thus made.
