When producing a sheath and shed portions of a composite insulator having a core rod 4, grasping metal fittings 5, 6 engagingly fitted and fixed at both end portions of the core rod, the sheath covering the core rod between the grasping metal fittings on the whole circumference of the core rod, and a plurality of shed portions extruding radially outwardly from the sheath at plural positions spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the core rod, by filling an insulative high molecular material and subsequent vulcanization thereof in the cavity 3 of the molding die portions, comprising the steps of positioning and retaining the core rod 4 at a desired position in the cavity of the molding die portions by means of retaining rings 7, 8 engagingly fitted on the grasping metal fittings 5, 6, and allowing an excess portion of the insulative high molecular material filled in the cavity to flow out to the exterior of the cavity between the grasping metal fittings 5, 6 and the retaining rings 7, 8.
L'invention porte sur une méthode de production d'une gaine à ailettes d'isolateur composite comportant une âme 4, des ferrures de préhension 5, 6 fixées solidairement aux deux extrémités de l'âme, une gaine recouvrant complètement l'âme entre les ferrures de préhension et plusieurs ailettes radialement en saillie sur la gaine à divers endroits espacés dans l'axe longitudinal de l'âme. Il s'agit de remplir la cavité 3 de la matrice de moulage d'un matériau isolant à haute densité moléculaire et de l'y vulcaniser subséquemment suivant les étapes suivantes : positionner et maintenir l'âme 4 à la position voulue dans la cavité 3 de la matrice de moulage au moyen d'anneaux de retenue 7, 8 en prise avec les ferrures de préhension 5, 6 et laisser l'excédent de matériau isolant injecté dans la cavité s'écouler en dehors de celle-ci, entre les ferrures de préhension 5, 6 et les anneaux de retenue 7, 8.
