ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a method for producing ferro-alloys, such as ferro-nickel, more particularly to improving the energy efficiency of a system consisting of the association of an electric furnace and a rotary kiln. The specification discloses a system wherein a fuel and a gas containing oxygen, such as air, are introduced into the electric furnace by means of a burner located under the arch of the electric furnace. In one embodiment, the surface of the ore introduced into the electric furnace is heated by a burner which is located under the arch of the said electric furnace and which is set to operate oxidatively, the fumes produced in the electric furnace being passed directly to the rotary kiln. The specification discloses a device for producing ferro-alloys by a system consisting of the association of an electric furnace and a rotary kiln, wherein said device also comprises at least one burner located under the arch of the said electric furnace, together with means for introducing into the said rotary kiln the fumes produced in the electric furnace.
