A process is dislosed for manufacturing gelatine foils, especially leaf gelatine, from powdered gelatine. According to the invention, less than 40 wt.% water relative to the entire mass is added to the powdered gelatine. The mass is then plasticized at elevated pressure and temperature while applying shear forces. The plasticized mass is then forced in the form of a foil through a slit nozzle. The foil is withdrawn under tension from the slit nozzle, and then dried. The process according to the invention is considerably less complicated than the known methods and in particular produces uniform, smooth end products which can be further processed by automatic means, and in particular can also-be mechanically packaged.

Cette invention concerne la fabrication de gélatine en feuille ou en plaque à partir de gélatine en poudre. Selon l'invention, l'eau ajoutée à la poudre représente moins de 40 % en poids de la masse totale obtenue. Cette masse est alors plastifiée par cisaillement sous hautes pression et température. La masse plastifiée est par la suite extrudée dans une filière à fente pour donner des plaques de gélatine. La plaque est extraite sous tension de la filière puis séchée. Le procédé selon l'invention est considérablement plus simple que les méthodes connues et, surtout, il donne un produit fini uniforme et lisse dont le traitement ultérieur se prête à automatisation, en particulier le conditionnement mécanisé.
