ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is disclosed for producing hybridoma cell lines by fusion of immunized splenocytes of the mouse with mouse myeloma cells. The splenocytes are immunized against interleukin-6 prior to the fusion. Three different cell ines can be identified and isolated from the fused cells, that is the hybridoma cell line with the C.N.C.M. deposition number I/913 (BE-8), the hybridoma cell line with the C.N.C.M. depositon number I/911 (BE-4) and the hybridoma cell line with the C.N.C.M. deposition number I/912 (BF-6), which produce monoclonal antibodies which recognize human interleukin-6 and which in dependence upon the different cell lines each bind themselves to a different epitope on the interleukin-6 molecule.
