An L-amino acid (for example, L-phenylalanine or L-tryptophan) is produced by culturing in a medium an escherichia, the L-amino acid productivity of which has been enhanced by elevating the activity of a protein encoded by yddG gene, and collecting the thus produced and accumulated L-amino acid from the medium.
