ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a method for obtaining low-molecular olefins by catalytic decomposition of methanol and characterized in that the decomposition gas from the methanol is cooled, purified, if necessary compressed and is then passed after the separation of a C3+ fraction to a low-temperature gas-breakdown unit where there is a C1/C2 separation and decomposition of the C2 fraction into an ethane flow and an ethylene-product flow.
