ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For the purpose of producing mouldings with moulding sand or some other formable mixture of base material particles, bonding agents, water and possible additives, upper and lower limits have been provided to facilitate the choice of an optimal pressure pattern. Pressure is built up by using a pressure increase gradient Image of at least 50 ata/s. A minimal pressure of at least 2 ata is maintained for at least 0.1 of a second. The pressure is then decreased by the use of a pressure drop gradient Image of between 1.5 and 3.0 ata/s. The values thus determined provide optimization for the purpose of simple and economic design, with satisfactory compacting.
