- 1 - Abstract: A multi core optical fiber cable having the core distances between adjacent individual optical fibers substantially the same is produced by a method comprising mounting upper ends of a plurality of optical fiber preforms each comprising a core and a cladding so that the distances between adjacent preforms are substantially the same, melting the lower ends of the preforms and simultaneously drawing the preforms by applying a constant tension. The result is a more uniform product than previously obtainable.
