In a process for preparing p-dichlorobenzene by nuclear chlorination of benzene and/or chlorobenzene as the starting material with chlorine molecules, chlorination is carried out using aluminum chloride in an amount of 0.1 - 3 millimols per mol of the starting material and phenothiazines such as 10H- phenothiazine--10-carboxylic acid phenyl ester in an amount of 0.1 -- 0.9 mols per mol of aluminum chloride so as to be a chlorination degree in a range of 1.2 - 2.5, by which p-dichlorobenzene can be obtained in a high para-selectivity and a short reaction time.

Procédé de production de p-dichlorobenzène dans lequel il est fait usage de benzène et/ou de chlorobenzène en tant que matière de base et la matière de base est soumise à une nucléo-chloration à l'aide de chlore moléculaire pour former le p-dichlorobenzène, caractérisé en ce que la chloration est effectuée à l'aide de 0,1 à 3 mmol de chlorure d'aluminium par rapport à 1 mol. de la matière de base précitée et 0,1 à 0,9 mol d'une phénothiazine, telle que phényle 10H-phénothiazine-10-carboxylate, par rapport à 1 mol du chlorure d'aluminium et à un degré de chloration dans la gamme de 1,2 à 2,5. Le procédé permet la production de p-dichlorobenzène avec une para-sélectivité améliorée et un temps de réaction court.
