ABSTRACT The invention concerns a method for producing a steel strip with high strength and formability. The low carbon steel is heat-treated directly in connection with the hot-rolling to a so-called dual-phase steel the structure of which is characterized by fine-grained, polygonal ferrite and therein dispersed-grains of martensite. Directly after the finishing stand in the hot strip mill a certain cooling of the strip is executed so that the follow- ing coiling occurs at 800 - 650°C. The strip coil is kept heat insulated at least 1 minute, after which recoiling occurs after cooling the strip to below 450°C.
