The method for producing a superheavy oil emulsion fuel includes the steps of (a) adding to a superheavy oil 0.1 to 0.6 parts by weight of a nonionic surfactant having an HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) of 13 to 19, based on 100 parts by weight of the superheavy oil, and water, to prepare a homogeneous liquid mixture; and (b) mechanically mixing the homogeneous liquid mixture with a high shearing stress, to produce a superheavy oil emulsion fuel having a particle size distribution. In this method, a 10 %-cumulative particle size is from 1.5 to 8 µm, a 50 %-cumulative particle size is from 11 to 30 µm, and a 90 %-cumulative particle size is from 25 to 150 µm, and coarse particles having particle sizes of 150 µm or more occupy 3 % by weight or less in the entire emulsion fuel, and the concentration of the superheavy oil is from 76.5 to 82.0 % by weight.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire un combustible en émulsion à base de pétrole ultralourd, comprenant les étapes suivantes: (a) addition à du pétrole super lourd de 0,1 à 0,6 parties en poids d'un tensio-actif nonionique présentant un équilibre hydrophile-lipophile de 13 à 19, le pétrole ultralourd devant représenter 100 parties en poids, dans le but d'obtenir un mélange liquide homogène; et (b) obtention d'un mélange liquide homogène par mélange mécanique à forte contrainte de cisaillement, pour produire un combustible en émulsion à base de pétrole ultralourd présentant une certaine granulométrie. Avec ce procédé, selon une distribution cumulative, les particules ayant une taille comprise entre 1,5 et 8 µm représentent 10 %, les particules ayant une taille comprise entre 11 et 30 µm représentent 50 % et les particules ayant une taille comprise entre 25 et 150 µm représentent 90 %, et les particules grossières d'une taille de 150 µm ou supérieure représentent 30 % en poids au maximum du combustible en émulsion dans son ensemble, et la concentration du pétrole ultralourd est comprise entre 76,5 et 82,0 % en poids.
