A process of treating molten steel to remove insoluble nonmetallic inclusions to produce clean and ultra clean steel comprising the steps of pouring molten steel into an insulated tundish having an insulated cover, maintaining a neutral atmosphere in said covered insulated tundish, stirring the molten steel with inert gas within said covered insulated tundish so as to precipitate said insoluble nonmetallic inclusions and move the same to the surface of the molten steel, maintaining and increasing molten steel temperature in said covered insulated tundish, directing the insoluble nonmetallic inclusions from the tundish, pouring clean and ultra clean steel from the covered insulated tundish.
Procédé de traitement de l'acier en fusion afin d'éliminer les inclusions non métalliques insolubles pour produire de l'acier épuré ou ultra-épuré. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : verser l'acier en fusion dans un bassin de coulée isolé comportant un couvercle isolé; maintenir une atmosphère neutre dans le bassin de coulée isolé; agiter l'acier en fusion au moyen d'un gaz inerte à l'intérieur du bassin de coulée de façon à provoquer la précipitation des inclusions non métalliques insolubles et à faire monter ces inclusions à la surface de l'acier en fusion; maintenir et augmenter la température de l'acier en fusion; diriger les inclusions non métalliques à l'extérieur du bassin de coulée; verser l'acier épuré et ultra-épuré du bassin de coulée isolé et couvert.
