ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The prevent invention relates to a process for the production of a synthetic resin suitable for use in the production of insulating lacquer coatings on wires, and the insulated conductors produced therefrom. It comprises re-esterifying dimethyl terephthalate with tris-(hydroxyethyl)-iso- cyanurate, esterifying the re-esterification product thus obtained with an anhydride of a polybasic aromatic carboxylic acid contain- ing three or more carboxyl groups to yield product containing car- boxyl groups, stopping the esterification by adding, a diprimary amins and effecting polycondensation of the estorification product and the diamins until the resin being formed has a consistency which, at 140 to 160°C renders it suitable for application to a substrate from the malt, which process is carried out in the presence of from 0.3 to 1.5% by weight, based on the weight of all monomers which are incorporated in the resin, of an alcoholate of titanium and/or vanadium and/or zirconium added to the re- esterification reaction mixture.
