Disclosed is a process for production of 2-(4-methyl-2-phenylpiperazin-1- yl)pyridine-3-methanol, which comprises the step of performing catalytic reduction of 2-(4-methyl-2-phenylpiperazin-1-yl)-3-cyanopyridine in an aqueous acid solution in the presence of a partially inactivated palladium catalyst.
