The invention relates to a method for producing an artificial tooth, comprising a base layer substantially determining strength and at least one cover layer substantially determining appearance of a finished artificial tooth, said method comprising: -establishing the available outer shape and dimensions for the finished artificial tooth, e.g. with a CAD-CAM system; - acquiring an image of a natural tooth to be replaced by the artificial tooth or a corresponding natural tooth over at least the in use visible outer surface thereof, including variations in appearance in said outer surface; - determining in the appearance determining properties of the cover layer to correspond with the variations in the appearance of the natural tooth to be replaced or the corresponding natural tooth, and determining a thickness of the cover layer locally required for said correspondence; -constructing the base layer to a shape and dimensions, which are based on the shape and dimensions available for the artificial tooth and prior to construction deducting, in the CAD-CAM system therefrom the locally required thickness of the cover layer; and -applying the cover layer over the base layer to attain the available outer shape and dimensions for the finished artificial tooth.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une dent artificielle comportant une couche de base qui détermine sensiblement la résistance de ladite dent, et une couche superficielle qui détermine sensiblement son apparence. Ledit procédé comprend les étapes consistant à établir, au moyen d'un système CAO/FAO par exemple, la forme extérieure et les dimensions disponibles de la dent artificielle à fabriquer ; acquérir une image de la dent naturelle devant être remplacée par la dent artificielle ou une image d'une dent naturelle correspondante ou au moins une image de leur surface extérieure visible, lesdites images devant comporter les variations d'apparence de la surface extérieure ; déterminer les variations de l'apparence définissant les propriétés de la couche superficielle de manière à ce qu'elles correspondent aux variations de l'apparence de la dent naturelle devant être remplacée ou d'une dent naturelle correspondante, et déterminer l'épaisseur de la couche superficielle requise zone par zone pour obtenir cette correspondance ; élaborer la couche de base selon une forme et des dimensions fondées sur la forme et les dimensions disponibles de la dent artificielle à fabriquer, et déduire, au moyen du système CAO/FAO l'épaisseur de la couche superficielle requise zone par zone préalablement à l'étape de fabrication ; et appliquer la couche superficielle sur la couche de base de manière à obtenir une dent artificielle présentant la forme et les dimensions disponibles et voulues.
