The invention concerns a method for protecting a cable (1) or a pipe comprising the following steps: a geotextile strip (2) is shaped like a sheath around the cable or pipe; and the strip is fixed around the cable or pipe. The invention is characterized in that the strip comprises a single web of at least one nonwoven material. The nonwoven material may be a multilayer material with a core layer of low-density and high mechanical strength nonwoven material and at least one outer layer covering same on at least one side, and advantageously on both sides, made of a nonwoven material of higher density. The geotextile may be heat-sealable and can be fixed by heat-sealing process (141).

Procédé pour protéger un câble (1) ou une conduite qui comprend les étapes suivantes : - une bande de géotextile (2) est mise en forme de gaine autour du câble ou de la conduite; et, - on fixe la bande autour du câble ou de la conduite. Il est caractérisé en ce que la bande comprend une seule nappe d'au moins une couche en matériau non tissé. Le matériau non tissé peut être un matériau multicouche avec une couche centrale d'un matériau non tissé de densité faible et de résistance mécanique élevée et au moins une couche extérieure la couvrant sur au moins un côté, et avantageusement sur les deux côtés, en matériau non tissé de densité plus élevée. Le géotextile peut être thermo-soudable et la fixation peut notamment se faire par thermo-soudage (141).
