Communication between geographically dispersed locations, i.e. between employees working from home and the main office, is made possible by associating the employee location with the main office numbering plan at the service control point (SCP) of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and by translating the ordinarily dialled numbers of the dialling plan at the SCP into the PSTN routing numbers for connection to the main office, and vice versa.
