A method for controlling formation fines when producing heavy oil from an unconsolidated sand formation where at least two wells are utilized. Both wells are perforated and hydraulically fractured at a lower interval via a viscous gel fluid having a sized and high temperature resistant proppant therein. The proppant is a size sufficient to filter fines from the oil, thereby keeping the fracture clear. Cyclic steam-flooding and oil production are conducted in one well, while the other is shut-in. This sequence is continued until steam breaks through at the lower interval from a first well into a second well. Afterwards, production packers with knock-out plugs are used to isolate the lower interval of both wells. Cyclic steam injection and oil production are continued in the upper interval of both wells. Subsequently, both wells are shut-in and production strings are directed to the lower formation interval through the knock-out plugs. Steam is then injected down the lower level of both wells and oil is produced from the upper level through the annuli of both wells.
Méthode pour contrôler les fines d'une formation quand on produit du pétrole lourd en exploitant une formation de sable non consolidée dans laquelle on utilise au moins deux puits. On perfore les deux puits et on les fracture hydrauliquement à un intervalle inférieur à l'aide d'un liquide visqueux contenant un agent de soutènement calibré et résistant à des températures élevées. L'agent de soutènement est d'un calibre suffisant pour filtrer les fines présentes dans le pétrole, gardant ainsi la fracture dégagée. Le déplacement à la vapeur d'eau et la production de pétrole sont menés de façon cyclique dans un puits, tandis que l'autre est fermé. Cette séquence se poursuit jusqu'à ce que la vapeur fasse sa percée à l'intervalle inférieur d'un premier puits au second. Par la suite, on utilise des packers munis de bouchons éjectables pour isoler l'intervalle inférieur des deux puits. On continue de mener de façon cyclique l'injection de vapeur et la production de pétrole dans l'intervalle supérieur des deux puits. Subséquemment, on ferme les deux puits et l'on dirige les colonnes de production vers l'intervalle de la formation inférieure à travers les bouchons éjectables. On injecte alors de la vapeur au niveau inférieur des deux puits et le pétrole est produit à partir du niveau supérieur par les espaces annulaires des deux puits.
