ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for the purification of the exhaust gas, which comprises passing the exhaust gas through a catalytic system having disposed on the exhaust gas inlet side a first catalyst produced by depositing a catalytic substance on at least one metallic substrate selected from the group consisting of metal nets and perforated metal sheets and on the exhaust gas outlet side a second catalyst produced by depositing a catalytic substance on a honeycomb shaped monolithic carrier and an apparatus therefor.
