An amount of water (9) is added to a glycol solution to be purified (6) to enable segregation (8) of the resulting mixture into a hydrocarbon phase and a glycol phase. The hydrocarbon phase (10) is separated from the glycol phase (11) and said glycol phase is desalted, e.g. by electrodialysis, to give a desalted and substantially hydrocarbon-free glycol solution which is then concentrated (23) by steam stripping. The method is useful for purifying waste glycol solutions resulting from oil or gas production effluent processing using glycols, and in particular from a gas hydrate inhibition treatment or natural gas dehydration.

On sépare la phase hydrocarbonée (10) d'avec la phase glycolique (11) et soumet cette dernière à un traitement de dessalage, par exemple par électrodialyse, pour produire une solution glycolique dessalée et substantiellement exempte d'hydrocarbures que l'on soumet ensuite à une concentration (23) par stripage à la vapeur d'eau. Application à la purification de solutions glycoliques usées issues du traitement d'effluents de production pétrolière ou gazière par les glycols, notamment traitement d'inhibition d'hydrates de gaz ou encore déshydratation de gaz naturels.
