A method for preparing polyethylene naphthalate having a low impurity content from a naphthalenedicarboxylic acid containing impurities, which comprises mixing a crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with an aqueous ethylene glycol solution, heating the mixture to esterify a part of the naphthalenedicarboxylic acid to prepare a naphthalenedicarboxylic ester, dissolving the naphthalenedicarboxylic ester in the aqueous ethylene glycol solution, bringing hydrogenatable impurities contained in the crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid into contact with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to hydrogenate the impurities to thereby dissolve the same in the aqueous ethylene glycol solution, crystallizing the naphthalenedicarboxylic ester, separating the crystallized naphthalenedicarboxylic ester from the aqueous ethylene glycol solution, and polycondensating the resultant naphtalenedicarboxylic ester. A method for purifying a crude naphtalenedicarboxylic acid to obtain a naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and a naphthalenedicarboxylic ester each having a low aldehyde content from a naphthalenedicarboxylic acid containing aldehydes, which comprises mixing a crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with an aqueous alcohol solution, heating the mixture to esterify a part of the naphthalenedicarboxylic acid to prepare a naphthalenedicarboxylic ester, dissolving the naphthalenedicarboxylic ester in the aqueous alcohol solution, bringing the aldehydes contained in the crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid into contact with a salt of sulfurous acid to prepare an aldehyde adduct, dissolving the aldehyde adduct in an aqueous alcohol solution, and crystallizing and separating the naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and the naphthalenedicarboxylic ester.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de préparer du polyéthylène naphtalate dont la teneur en impuretés est faible, à partir d'un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique contenant des impuretés, ledit procédé consistant à: mélanger un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique brut avec une solution aqueuse d'éthylène glycol; chauffer le mélange pour estérifier une partie de l'acide naphtalènedicarboxylique pour obtenir un ester naphtalènedicarboxylique; dissoudre l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique dans la solution aqueuse d'éthylène glycol; mettre en contact les impuretés hydrogénables contenues dans l'acide naphtalènedicarboxylique brut avec de l'hydrogène, en présence d'un catalyseur d'hydrogénation, pour hydrogéner les impuretés et ainsi les dissoudre dans la solution aqueuse d'éthylène glycol; cristalliser l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique; séparer l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique cristallisé de la solution aqueuse d'éthylène glycol; et polycondenser l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique obtenu. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de purifier un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique brut pour obtenir un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique et un ester naphtalènedicarboxylique présentant chacun une faible teneur en aldéhyde, à partir d'un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique contenant des aldéhydes, ledit procédé consistant à : mélanger un acide naphtalènedicarboxylique brut avec une solution alcoolique; chauffer le mélange pour estérifier une partie de l'acide naphtalènedicarboxylique pour obtenir un ester naphtalènedicarboxylique; dissoudre l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique dans la solution alcoolique aqueuse; mettre les aldéhydes contenus dans l'acide naphtalènedicarboxylique brut en contact avec un sel d'acide sulfureux pour obtenir un produit d'addition d'aldéhydes; dissoudre le produit d'addition d'aldéhydes dans une solution alcoolique aqueuse; et cristalliser et séparer l'acide naphtalènedicarboxylique et l'ester naphtalènedicarboxylique.
