The invention concerns a method for purifying lactams, more particularly lactams obtained by cyclizing hydrolysis of aminonitrile. More particularly, the invention concerns the purification of .epsilon.-caprolactam obtained by cyclizing hydrolysis of aminocapronitrile which consists in eliminating the ammonia from the reaction medium of the hydrolysis then in recuperating the lactam from said medium in purified form. Said recuperation is carried out by performing at least a distillation of the lactam in the presence of a base producing optionally a fronts fraction comprising compounds more volatile than the lactam, a fraction comprising the lactam to be recuperated to the degree of desired purity and a distillation tails comprising the lactam and compounds less volatile than the lactam. The distillation tails are treated by various processes such as evaporation in thin layers to recuperate the major part of the comprised caprolactam and recycling the latter in the purification process. The invention enables a high rate of recuperation of the caprolactam contained in the hydrolysis medium, while observing the required criteria of purity.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de purification de lactames, plus particulièrement de lactames obtenus par hydrolyse cyclisante d'aminonitrile. L'invention se rapporte plus particulièrement à la purification de l'.epsilon.- caprolactame obtenu par hydrolyse cyclisante de l'aminocapronitrile consistant à éliminer l'ammoniac du milieu réactionnel d'hydrolyse puis à récupérer le lactame dudit milieu sous forme purifiée. Cette récupération est réalisée en mettant en oeuvre au moins une distillation du lactame en présence d'une base produisant éventuellement une fraction de tête comprenant des composés plus volatils que le lactame, une fraction comprenant le lactame à récupérer au degré de pureté désiré et un pied de distillation comprenant du lactame et des composés moins volatils que le lactame. Le pied de distillation est traité par différents procédés comme l'évaporation en couches minces pour récupérer la majeur partie du caprolactame contenu et recyclage de celui-ci dans le procédé de purification. L'invention permet un taux de récupération élevé du caprolactame contenu dans le milieu d'hydrolyse, tout en respectant les critères de pureté requis.
