ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a method of extracting crude oil from oil-sands by means of water and glycolipids, as non-ionic interfacial-tension-lowering substances, and of separating the crude oil from the mixtures of crude oil, water and solids thus obtained. The method is characterized in that trehalose-lipids , in the form of a dispersion or solu- tion in organic and watersoluble solvents, are mixed with the water at a temperature of less than 90°C, this mixture being in turn mixed with the oil-sand, whereupon the mixture of crude oil and water is separated from this mixture.
