ABSTRACT A method for recovering mineral values from a mineral bearing subterranean formation penetrated by a plurality of wellbores by (a) positioning a shaft from the surface to a subterranean formation lying generally parallel to the mineral bearing formation; (b) positioning at least two tunnels in the subterranean formation with the tunnels being spaced apart a selected distance and in communication with the shaft; (c) positioning wellbores to penetrate the mineral bearing sub- terranean formation from the tunnels; (d) injecting a fluid through at least a portion of the wellbores penetrating the mineral bearing subterranean formation from a first tunnel to enhance the recovery of mineral values from at least a portion of the wellbores penetrating the mineral bearing formation from a second tunnel; and (e) recovering mineral values from at least a portion of the wellbores penetrating the mineral bearing formation from the second well.
