A method for reclaiming plastic from plastic waste material, including hydropulper or polymeric film and contaminants such as cellulosic fiber, adhesive labels, paper, dirt, or organic material. The plastic waste material is reduced in size to particles having a maximum dimension ranging between about 1 inch and 8 inches. A portion of the contaminants, including cellulosic fiber is mechanically separated from the plastic waste. Another portion of the contaminants is separated from the plastic by washing. The particle size of the plastic is further reduced to a maximum dimension of about 1/2 inch while in a wet slurry. Flotation with agitation further separates cellulosic fiber from plastic. The plastic is dewatered and dried to a moisture content of less than about 10 weight percent. The dried plastic is then rolled into pellets in a controlled low heat pelletizer.
