The present invention relates to a method for recycling rubber-containing articles and more particularly reinforced articles such as the tire casings of vehicles. This method comprises placing the article in a chamber in which an ozone-containing gas is fed, and applying mechanical deformation forces on said article. The ratio between the ozone consumption value for recycling the article and the power consumption value for generating the mechanical forces is kept within an interval of 0.02-2 g/watt per hour. This invention also relates to a device for realising this method, wherein said device comprises a working chamber a system for feeding an ozone-containing gas therein as well as a system for mechanically deforming the articles to be recycled. The deformation system is made in the shape of two or more members, wherein one member is capable of rotation relative to the second and comprises protruding working organs which are arranged so as to engage the articles to be recycled.
Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de recycler des articles contenant du caoutchouc, notamment des articles renforcés tels que des pneumatiques d'automobiles. L'article est disposé dans une chambre dans laquelle on envoie un gaz contenant de l'ozone, après quoi on exerce sur l'article des contraintes mécaniques de déformation. Le rapport entre, d'une part, la valeur de la consommation d'ozone servant au recyclage de l'article et, d'autre part, la valeur de la consommation électrique servant à générer les contraintes mécaniques est maintenu dans l'intervalle 0,02-2 g/watt-heure. Cette invention concerne également un dispositif de mise en oeuvre de ce procédé, lequel comprend une chambre de travail, un système permettant d'y introduire un gaz contenant de l'ozone, ainsi qu'un système de déformation mécanique des articles à recycler. Le système de déformation se présente sous forme de deux éléments ou plus. L'un au moins de ces éléments est monté de manière à pouvoir tourner par rapport au second, et comprend des organes de travail saillants qui sont disposés de manière à entrer en contact avec les articles à recycler.
